St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Aurora, Illinois...
is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Because of this we are a faith community centered in the revealed Word of God, Jesus Christ. We believe that Christ is revealed in the stories and teachings of the New and Old Testaments of the Bible. We also confidently confess that the truth revealed in scripture is rightly proclaimed in the teachings and traditions of the Lutheran Church.
St. Mark's is a congregation that strives to share our historical faith by preserving the best of our ancient heritage and, at the same time, by exploring new, imaginative, and exciting ways to speak the language of faith to the modern world. Because of this our worship is a blend of traditional hymns and modern song, traditional liturgy and understandable language, timeless truths and creative expression.
All people, regardless of race, religious background, or life circumstance are welcome to share in our worship and to participate fully in the life and ministry of the congregation. We believe that the Lord's Table is open to all baptized, believing Christians, and we invite you to commune with us each week.
Our Mission at St. Mark's is to Proclaim Christ’s Abundant Love. In order to fulfill this mission, our members, through their faithful stewardship of time, talent and financial resources, provide a wide range of ministry programs. Although funded and staffed primarily through the generous commitment of our members, our educational and personal growth programs, youth programs, service ministries, and fellowship opportunities are available to members and non-members alike.
It is our ardent belief that in a troubled, confusing, and uncertain world, the Gospel of Jesus Christ provides the one sure and certain hope for life...now and forever. We are dedicated to sharing that hope with all who are open to receive it, and we invite you to join us in the adventure.
