St. Mark's Lutheran Church
Proclaiming Christ's Abundant Love

Welcome to Sunday School and Children's Church at St. Mark's!

St. Mark's offers Sunday School during the 9:00 a.m. service and Children's Church during the 10:30 a.m. service.  Both programs are open to all children from 3 years of age through 5th grade and run from the beginning of September until the end of May.  We kick off each new Sunday School year with a Rally Day event in early September.

During 9:00 a.m. Sunday School we will use the "Spark" curriculum from Augsburg Fortress.   "Spark" is a faith formation program that gets children ages 3 through grade 5 excited about God's Word.  "Spark" lessons bring to life 150 stories from the Old and New Testament through games, art, music, and science, to accommodate all the different ways kids learn.  And Spark's online resources--activity ideas, preparation videos, and more--make lesson planning fun and easy for teachers and students alike!

For the 9:00 a.m. program, parents should drop off preschool students in their classrooms each week and pick up them up from their classrooms immediately following services.   1st through 5th graders should be dropped off at their classroom and picked up from Sanctuary Hall.  Since we end our day with a Closing and Music Time there will be mornings when we finish a little after 10:00 a.m.  Parents are invited to enjoy coffee and occasional treats in the Narthex until our time together is finished.

For the 10:30 a.m. program,  we use "Seasons of the Spirit".  The curriculum follows the lectionary, which means we all learn the same lesson each week and encourages conversation for the ride home from church each Sunday.

The 10:30 a.m. program brings an opportunity for students to join their parents in the Sanctuary for our Children's Church Program.  Children join the congregation for the first few minutes of each service to share in the day's Bible readings, songs and a brief children's message.  Following the message, children exit the Sanctuary to classrooms to continue their Children's Church experience.  Parents can pick up children immediately following the service in Room 132.

Parents are asked to partner with the leadership group by assisting at least 2 times per year.

We are grateful for our volunteers...please consider making a difference in a child's life!

Children's Church Volunteer Signup

In order to follow Safe Child Policy standards that have been set by St. Mark's, we need more than one person in the classroom at any given time. Therefore, we ask parents to participate a minimum of 2 times during the school year. If we don't have enough volunteers, it may become necessary to assign dates to parents for help. Thanks for your cooperation!
