Pastor Patricia (Pat) Geiseman

Senior Pastor

Pastor Pat was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois. In 1976 she graduated from Carthage College and from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago in 1980. Pastor Pat served two parishes, one in northeastern Ohio and the second in Elgin, Illinois, before accepting the call to serve at St. Mark's in 1996. She is married to Edward Hunter; and they are the parents of two sons.

Pastor Brian Wise

Associate Pastor

Pastor Brian is a graduate of Valparaiso University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology with a minor in music. He served on the chapel staff at Valpo for 3 years as a residential minister, offering ministries to students and holding weekly Bible studies around campus. Pr. Brian went on to receive his Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago in 2010, during this time, he served a one-year internship at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Vancouver, Washington. While waiting for a call, Pr. Brian worked in The Office of the Presiding Bishop at the Churchwide offices of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Pr. Brian has a passion to lead, teach, and use music as a tool of ministry for children and young adults.

Pr. Brian married Mandy, his college sweetheart, on the 4th of July in 2010! She is an elementary school music teacher in Palatine IL. They are both passionate White Sox fans!

Pr. Brian began his ministry at St. Mark's on October 1, 2011, and was ordained here on Saturday, October 22, 2011.

Ms. Deb Arcilla

Office Manager

Deb Arcilla is a 1979 graduate of Luther College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work. Deb’s career includes being a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines right after college, and then working at two residential children’s group homes for 20 years. She has served at St. Mark’s for 10 years, and currently is full time office manager.

Deb is widowed, and the mother of three.

Ms . Kristin Young

Director of Worship & the Arts

Kristin answered the call to serve on the staff at St. Mark’s in 1996 and rejoices in the gift that the past 17 years has been. Kristin also served Illinois churches in Carpentersville, Algonquin and Batavia before coming to St. Marks’s. She also taught and directed the choral program at Faith Lutheran Christian School in Geneva, IL.

Kristin graduated from DePaul University School of Music in 1983 and since that time has also received the Bishop’s Certificate in church music from both the ELCA and the Episcopal church in America

Kristin and her husband Bruce reside in Plainfield, IL and enjoy Florida vacations with their 4 adult children.

Ms. Sue Hilderbrand

Bell Choir Director

One might say; St. Mark’s and Sue have grown up together. Sue’s parents were Charter Members along with her and younger brother Tim. Sue’s youngest brother Mike was the first Baptism at the Galena and Edgelawn site. After her Confirmation in 1967, the Church Council Called Sue to be Children’s Choir Director. Graduate of West Aurora, graduate of the ELCA Diakonia Program (2006); over the years, Sue has worn many hats. From 1974 to 1979, Sue joined the staff full time with duties as Secretary, Youth Worker as well as Children’s Choir Director. During that time our Music Program was expanded and 2 youth groups were formed. In 1982, Sue began a Handbell Program which has grown from 1 to 3 choirs as well as a handbell/handchime opportunity during the music portion of FDL. In addition to ringing for worship, our Handbell Choirs have done some local traveling. We have rung for Aurora Historical Society’s Christmas Open House, Synod Assemblies, Ken Swanson’s Man of the Year Dinner, Various Christmas Parties; at Country Clubs and Churches, Weddings and Handbell Conferences. Sue resides in Aurora and in addition to her position at St. Mark’s, Sue is employed by Nicor. Sue also sings in The Lion’s Voice Choir, serves as the Leader for Celebration Singers and is the Chairperson for Sanctuary Art and Banner Team. Sue also serves as one of our Prayer Minister and is a veteran of several Youth Gatherings and Youth Mission Trips.

Ms. Jean Clementz, R.N.

Faith Community Nurse

Jean Clementz, RN is our Provena Mercy Medical Center Faith Community Nurse. As a member of the parish staff, she coordinates the congregation’s health and wellness ministry. Jean’s primary focus is the intentional care of spirit through a “wholistic” view of health, by integrating mind, body, and spirit. Her primary roles as our faith community nurse are to:

  • Serve as a resource for health information through education, advocacy, and personal health counseling.
  • Refer to and facilitate the use of community resources.
  • Encourage others to recognize and share their gifts through volunteering.
  • Jean received her BSN from the College of St. Teresa and MSN from Lewis University. She has lived in Aurora for most of her life. Jean is married to her husband, Chris, and they have two adult sons.

    Mr. Gregg Kobliska

    Facility Manager

    Gregg came to St. Mark’s in 2009 and joined the property team. He has a diverse background with two engineering certifications, along with experience in project management, procurement and quality assurance. Gregg has general contracted a number of homes over the years. Gregg retired and brought this experience to St. Mark’s in June 2010 as Facility Manager. Gregg has two adult children and lives in Sugar Grove. Gregg enjoys flying private airplanes, gardening, and ballroom dancing.

    Mr. John Themanson

    Finance Administrator

    John graduated from Illinois State University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Computer Science and moved to Wheaton, IL. He and his wife joined St. Paul's Lutheran Church while Ken Olson was the senior pastor there. They moved to Aurora and transferred to St. Mark's. John retired from General Electric in 2005, and worked at a Target store before joining the staff here at St. Mark's in May of 2008. He is a widower with 2 children. John is also a member of the Lion's Voice choir.

    Ms. Nicole Ferrier

    Communications Coordinator

    Nicole grew up in Lombard, Illinois and attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed volunteering with the youth group program run by her aunt and uncle. After attending Columbia College Chicago and obtaining a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in film producing and web design she returned to the suburbs in 2004. She has lived in North Aurora for the past eight years with her son and aunt. Nicole is St. Mark’s Welcoming Council Member and has taught FDL classes for two years. She enjoys participating in Hannah’s Circle, Bible studies, and providing backup office support at St. Mark’s. Nicole has also chaired the Fearn Elementary PTA Literacy Committee for three years and is heavily involved with the North Aurora Mothers Club. She has chaired Community Relations, Events, and Marketing, and acted as chairperson for the 2nd Annual North Aurora Community Parade for the NAMC. Nicole has worked in the western suburbs and Chicago in administration, customer service, and human resources for the past fifteen years. She has been a member of St. Mark’s since October of 2011.

    Ms. Tracy McClure


    Tracy is a third year Master of Arts in Ministry student at the Lutheran School of Thelogy Chicago. She was raised in Aurora, IL and still resides there with Brian, her husband of nearly a year. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Western Illinois University and has worked as a customer account representative at Nalco Company in Naperville for the past ten years. When not working or in school, Tracy enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also loves reading, crocheting, and playing sports, particularly football and baseball. She is an avid Bears, White Sox, and Brewers fan and takes every opportunity in the summer to attend baseball games. She considers herself to be a very outgoing and dynamic person, and thrives from meeting new people and doing new things. Tracy is very excited to see what this year will bring with St. Mark's and she is looking forward to getting to know everyone!
